Isis was the Egyptian personification of the perfect wife and mother, as well as being the goddess of nature. She was the wife of Osiris and the mother of Horus. When her husband was killed and his body dismembered she travelled around Egypt to recover his remains. She was one of the protectors of the dead, and the goddess of children.
