Restless Guns

Restless Guns was written by the well known “wild west” author William Colt Macdonald. It tells the story of “Stony” Brooke and “Tucson” Smith who arrive in the town of Cuarta City and set about cleaning up the gang of the crooked gambler “Hawk” Blackwood.

The characters of Stony and Tucson later featured in the series making up the Three Mesquiteers starting with the novel “Low of the Fourty-Fives”, which inspired a series of wild west movies including several starring John Wayne.

This book has blue cloth boards with gilt embossed lettering and embellishment on the spine. The spine itself has faded to a dark cream colour, but the lettering is still clear and highly visible, the gilt embossing is turning black around the edges. The back board features a gilt advert for “Kolynos dental cream”.

The spine is in good condition with no signs of cracking. The binding is tight and secure and all pages are present. The pages themselves are mostly clean with no pencil marks, there are one or two smudges (possibly from an eager outdoors reader) and some light foxing marks along the text block.

There is an ink dedication on the first page which reads “Frances, Sept 2nd 1936”.

Overall this book would be a great gift for anyone who enjoys tales of the wild west, or who is a fan of the Three Mesquiteers movie series.
